  • What is a safety switch and do I need one for my home or business?

Safety switches are insurance against electric shock. They shut off electricity supply when current leakage is detected. This prevents the current from flowing through a person (electrocuting them).

  • What is the difference between a circuit breaker and a safety switch? Are both necessary?

A circuit breaker breaks the circuit, or trips, when it detects an overload or short circuit. A safety switch shuts off electricity supply when it detects a leakage to earth. Circuit breakers are installed to protect appliances, while safety switches are to protect life.
